Please join us on Saturday, 14 March 2015 for an evening in honour of the memory and work of Ali Mustafa. The event will feature discussions by journalists Sharif Kouddous (with Democracy Now and the Nation Institute, currently based in Egypt) and Jihan Hafiz (with The Real News Network and Al Jazeera, currently based in Ferguson, Missouri) on their experiences working as social-justice oriented freelancers in conflict areas, as well as tributes to Ali Mustafa from those who worked with him.

All proceeds from this event will go towards establishing an annual Ali Mustafa Memorial Award for freelance journalists.  Information about the award, application process and nominations will be introduced during this event, with the first winner announced in 2016.

Sponsored by:
The Ali Mustafa Memorial Collective, the Canadian Media Guild Freelance Branch, Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, Ryerson School of Journalism, News Photographers Association of Canada, and CAW Sam Gindin Chair for Social Justice at Ryerson University.
